Day 11 – Automated Terror

At 12:00 noon, we were hit with a major setback. Off the store’s northeast corner, in a field with the Langley water tower is one of the town’s tornado sirens. It is approximately 200 feet off of our NE corner. Every two weeks, on Tuesdays at noon, there is an automated test of the town’s sirens. When you live in Oklahoma (a.k.a. Tornado Alley), you learn to take tornados seriously. Especially after the 2011 Joplin storm, you stand up and take notice. Needless to say, with all the chaos and pandemonium of the rise of the living dead, the town’s tornado siren was not exactly even a blip on anyone’s radar.
You can see the Tornado Siren. It is located right off our NE Corner.
That noise echoes for miles and now I am afraid every zom in 10 square miles is going to be descending on us. For now, Lance and Hunter are both on the roof as an early warning network. I just hope they don’t signal us. I feel our fortifications are secure but I really don’t want these things wandering around our parking lot in case there is something that we missed.
So, checking our calendar, we are going to have to hit that pole and disable the alarm before May 21st or we are going to have to go through this all over again.
More soon.
