Everyone has agreed to go into a bit
of a “stealth mode” for the next few days. You have seen that scene in the
movies where the zombies just keep stacking up and stacking up in the parking
lot? That is not really happening with us.
Food sources in Langley are starting
to thin out tremendously and many zoms have seemed to throw on their traveling
shoes and hiked a hobo bindle over their shoulder. They seem to be moving on.
Maybe through something instinctual (maybe through residual memories?), they
are moving off in search of more densely populated areas where more people will
be. If that is the case then Tulsa would be the closest jackpot to score some
sweet, sweet human meat. Too soon?
Our theory is that if the zoms can
thin out, Brad and his group will have a better shot at getting over here in
one piece and uninfected. So we are monitoring the migration patterns and
trying to figure out when is the best time for them to get over here. From the
sounds of things, Brad already has a plan. So we just need to be ready for him.
Kasondra has made it clear that the Produce Dock is their point of entry. It
leads them right into the QZ. Thankfully, everyone has agreed to building the
Quarantine Zone. We are starting to work on it tomorrow.
So we are all just trying to remain as
quiet as possible, which means Lance is off his sniping fun for a few days.
What we need are silencers. (Again, being holed up in Weapons R Us would have
been really nice.) I know the plan is to have our parking lot as cleared out as
possible when the crew makes their run.
We have already discussed it and I can
barely believe I get to type this. We are going to be laying down cover fire as
Brad’s crew comes to us. Cover fire. A produce clerk from Adair, OK is laying
down cover fire during the zombie apocalypse. It hardly seems real. But I think
will our sniper work, we will create a safety lane for that group to travel in
and make it over.
Still, I have to assume they are going
to jump in a vehicle to make the run. Just zip over before the zoms realize
what is going on. And any that are close enough to be a threat get taken out
from the roof. But here is the problem.
I remember back when I use to live “in
town.” Yes, during my college years I lived in the vast metropolis that was
Adair, Oklahoma. We have all been there where it is 3 a.m. and you have to get
up to pee. So you do your business and you flop back down into bed. You are not
quite back to sleep yet but the rest of the world is. And then outside, four
houses down, you hear that car door shut and the engine start up.
In the hustle and bustle of the day,
you probably would not have paid much attention but at night, with the world
asleep, that noise seems to stand out. It seems to be more prevalent. Our world
is getting quiet. So firing up a V8 pickup is going to attract a fair amount of
attention.
I will just have to hope for the best…
