Day 307 – Zom ESP and Burning Bodies

Thursday’s zombie horde shuffle party has given all of us pause. While by and large the horde passed us by, there were a few that decided – for whatever reason – to test our perimeter. Needless to say, we dropped them easy. But I still have this suspicion that some zoms just have better perception than others. Clearly, a zombie with one eye is going to be half the visual hunter than a two-eyed zombie is. But some people needed glasses. Some people needed hearing aids. I would have to assume these same afflictions would affect a zom.
But still, there was that small collection that seemed to sense that we were here. I cannot explain why. Now don’t roll your eyes just yet but there was a supposed small segment of the population that claimed to have a sixth sense, a certain level of extra-sensory perception.
Is it possible that some zoms just have a natural gift at detecting a human food source? I don’t know how else to explain it.  We weren’t broadcasting. We weren’t advertising our presence. But somehow they KNEW we were here.
So with the horde long passed, we headed out yesterday. The plan was to pile them up and burn them. But as we were taking care of this chore, we could not help but notice that this fresh crop of zoms did not seem to be deteriorating as fast as we thought.
Now, obviously the winter temperatures had to have an effect on their decomposition. That is just standard logic but you would think that an open body that has been exposed for 300+ days would be a little farther along when it comes to their tendons breaking down and limiting their potential movement.
I think that this means that we need to consider extending the Year One plan. I am not vocalizing this too publically because I think people need that light of hope. They need that light at the end of the tunnel. So I am posting it on here.
I cannot tell you how many zoms we have dropped in the last ten months. I cannot venture a guess. Say we have killed 1,000. While that number it impressive, it is just a drop in the bucket if all 6 billion people on the planet are infected.
I want to defend our home but at the same time, we should probably also conserve our ammo for pressing moments. I still have to believe that my deterioration theory is solid. We just have to hunker down and ride out the storm…
