Day 190 – Ah, Brisk Fall Air….

It can take a little while here in Oklahoma but I think winter is finally starting to arrive. The leaves are turning on the trees and strong winds are taking them off as fast as they are turning. The days are still fairly nice with comfortable temperatures. You could probably get away with a T-shirt and shorts if you were in the sun. But once that sun hits the horizon and starts to disappear, you are going to want a jacket. Maybe even a coat. Oklahoma is one of those weird areas where spring and fall both last about a week. We are either straight into the deep freeze of winter or the sweltering sledgehammer of summer. You know that really nice time of year where you don’t have to run the heater or the air conditioner? Yeah, here in OK that time seems to last far too short for us.
I have to admit, I am happy to see the colder temperatures. I am pretty hot (ladies) by nature and I would rather be cold any day of the week and twice on Sunday. When it is cold, you can throw another blanket on the bed. You can put on a sweatshirt. Another pair of socks. When you are hot, once you get to a certain state of undress, there is not a whole lot you can do.
This also means that the Carbone Initiative could be right around the corner. If these zombies start freezing, then we gain a true superiority. I am not saying that the danger zone will be completely free of hazard but a sortie mission at night when the temperature is zero would pretty much give us free reign. If we were intense and methodical, we could clear out Langley.
During the day, you can walk around on the roof in a T-shirt and be comfortable. If you are working out with Lance and Kanen, you are still going to lather up a pretty good sweat. But, once that sun kisses the horizon and all that radiation starts to evaporate off the Earth, if you are going to be outside for any extended period of time. I mean, for us, it just means that we button up tight pretty close after sundown. But if the guys want to do some night target shooting, they tend to bundle up.
So, in summation, at night, once the sun has gone down, it is Jacket On Weather.  But during the day, if the wind is calm, it is Jacket Off Weather. Jacket on weather at night but jacket off weather during the day.
(I know that was a long road for a self-pleasure joke but I couldn’t resist.)
